After meticulous preparation and an exhaustive reconnaissance of the mountain, Navarro faced the final ascent. From the summit he began the descent sector by sector, managing each turn with great precision. After overcoming all the key steps, Navarro reached the base of the mountain. "I laughed, cried, screamed... I stretched out for 15 minutes under this perfect pyramid, just looking at it." Despite the extreme exposure and the lack of safe points, he managed to complete the descent without needing a rope. "Today the dream has become a reality after many years of waiting and searching for the conditions, and above all finding the confidence and connection to ski this spectacular line," Aymar posted on his social networks, attaching a series of truly impressive images and videos.
A personal challenge achieved
For Navarro, this descent represents much more than an extreme descent: "It was the challenge that I had pending at home and had been looking for for years. It is an extremely delicate mountain, difficult to find in optimal conditions. And when these conditions appear, you have to be mentally prepared to take advantage of them," confessed the skier. Not only was it a technically very complex line, but finding the optimal conditions for the descent was almost an impossible mission.
Throughout his professional career, Aymar Navarro, born in Les, has competed in alpine skiing and has practiced snowboarding, but he was drawn to the freeride, which consists of skiing on an unmarked course, choosing with total freedom. Over the years, the Aranese has become one of the best off-piste skiers in the world. This week he has entered the history books.
