Gabriel Jesus was the last signing. The need for a guaranteed left-sided centre-back remained to be covered, a specialty that Gerard Martín is the only one to fulfill in the current squad. This hypothetical signing depended exclusively on whether there was an unexpected departure during the day, such as that of Alejandro Balde, who has not played a single minute in the league matches he has been called up for. Marc Casadó headed the list of clear departures that Barça had to resolve. The midfielder from Valles had known for weeks that Hansi Flick would not count on him. He had offers from Saudi Arabia, an unconfirmed interest from some Italian club, and proposals from the Turkish league.
