"If you have a digital issue that worries you, 017 will take care of it."

The 017 number of the National Cybersecurity Institute of the Spanish government is the trusted telephone number to resolve any digital security problem, with the same speed and security as you would call a locksmith if you were locked out of your house.

In the physical world, we all know what to do when a problem arises: if your house lock breaks, you call a locksmith; if your credit card is stolen, you call the bank. But do we know where to turn if we have a problem with the internet? The answer is simple: 017. Since its launch in 2020, 017 has been the free and confidential number of the Spanish government's National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE), which helps with any problem related to digital security on the internet. It is available to everyone, from 8:00 AM. This number has become a digital lifeline for many individuals and companies who have encountered difficulties online. 017 not only assists those who have already experienced an incident but also helps prevent problems before they become a nightmare. As INCIBE's new campaign states, "If something digital worries you, 017 will take care of it." In 2024, more than half of the consultations were preventative: people who, before anything bad happened, preferred to ask experts how to protect themselves.

From fraudulent messages arriving via email or SMS to social media account theft and online shopping scams, many problems can arise online. But the good news is that with a simple call to 017, you can get help to solve them. And if you can't call, you can also contact them via WhatsApp or Telegram (just save the number 900 116 117 or search for the username @incibe017).

This service is designed for everyone—citizens and businesses—regardless of age or level of digital literacy. Whether you're concerned about email account security, have been impersonated on social media, or have encountered online fraud, 017 can help. It's also a key resource for minors, who are often targeted by cyberbullying or malicious individuals online. If you're a parent or work with children, you can also call 017 for advice on how to protect them in the digital world. Frauds via fake calls, text messages, and emails—known as vishing, smishing and fishing— These are some of the most frequent queries they receive. Identity theft on social media, account theft, and online account fraud are also problems many people face today.
