El Corte Inglés is reinforcing its culinary leadership with a strong commitment to ready meals, a category already available in eight stores across Catalonia. This strategy responds to a growing demand for high-quality culinary solutions, adapted to today's fast-paced lifestyle, that allow people to eat well while spending less time cooking. These meals are especially relevant during celebrations like Christmas, when convenience is sought without sacrificing flavor or culinary excellence.

During the Christmas holidays, the selection of ready-made meals takes center stage. Every Christmas, El Corte Inglés caters to the meal preparation needs of thousands of families, reaffirming its commitment to quality, culinary tradition, and innovation.

Among the most traditional dishes for this time of year, available by special order, are escudella (a Catalan stew), cannelloni, Catalan-style cod, and capon or pioca (a type of chicken) in Catalan sauce. These are complemented by other locally inspired dishes such as Catalan-style spinach and cod fritters.

New this year, El Corte Inglés is offering a special Christmas menu designed specifically for the holidays, available for €34 (VAT included) at any of its physical stores. The menu includes a choice of starter: rockfish pie or mushroom and Scamorza cheese quiche*; a main course: roast capon stuffed with Port and foie gras or monkfish stew with king prawns; a side of either potatoes baked in the oven or sautéed mushrooms (porcini, garlic, green asparagus, and button mushrooms); and for dessert, a Valrhona dark chocolate pyramid or a slice of King Cake with cream. Customers can also personalize their menu by combining other dishes according to their preferences.

With over 40 years of experience in prepared meals, El Corte Inglés continues to innovate to offer a unique gastronomic experience, adapted to seasonality and local preferences. Its model is based on artisanal, traditional, and natural recipes, prepared by teams of professionals working in kitchens integrated within the stores themselves.

Step-by-step instructions for cooking the stew and the pot meat:

  1. We soak the beans and chickpeas the day before (24 hours)
  2. We scald all the meats, remove the water and set them aside.
  3. We make the ball with minced meat, pine nuts, garlic, parsley, egg and breadcrumbs
  4. We boil the chickpeas, beans, and vegetables in a pot with water and salt and cook it for 2 hours, with the reserved meats.
  5. After an hour of cooking, add the meatball and the chopped vegetables.
  6. We separate the broth and set aside the meats, legumes, and vegetables.
  7. We boiled the galets in the broth
