CaixaProinfancia has assisted more than 20,000 children at risk of poverty and social exclusion in Catalonia in 2024
The CaixaProinfancia program of the "la Caixa" Foundation has supported more than 20,000 children and adolescents and more than 13,000 families in Catalonia who are vulnerable, at risk of poverty, or socially excluded in 2024. This result has been achieved thanks to the collaboration of 467 social entities committed to equality.
In a context where child poverty remains a reality for thousands of children, the "la Caixa" Foundation reaffirms its commitment to equal opportunities through the CaixaProinfancia program. Throughout 2024, this project assisted a total of 65,845 children and adolescents and 41,849 families across Spain, and 20,400 children and adolescents and 13,216 families in Catalonia. Since its inception in 2007, it has reached more than 392,000 children and adolescents and over 227,000 families. In Catalonia, it has reached more than 123,000 children and adolescents and over 75,000 families. The program works to support children, adolescents, and families living in poverty and social vulnerability by providing them with the necessary tools to overcome the socioeconomic barriers they face and guaranteeing them access to the same opportunities for growth, education, and well-being as their peers. In Spain, 1 in 3 children lives in poverty, a reality that directly impacts their personal, educational, and social development. With the aim of breaking the cycle of inherited poverty, CaixaProinfancia promotes comprehensive and personalized support, focused on improving participants' basic skills, study habits, and self-esteem, thus fostering their empowerment and social inclusion.
"Through this program, we strive to ensure that no child is left behind. We want everyone to be able to grow, learn, and dream of a better future without their social or economic circumstances being a barrier to achieving their goals. CaixaProinfancia is, ultimately, our commitment to a more equitable and supportive society," Simón.
CaixaProinfancia, a network intervention model
With 18 years of experience working in vulnerable environments, CaixaProinfancia offers comprehensive and multidimensional support, with activities ranging from educational reinforcement to psychosocial care and family well-being. Its innovative intervention model, based on networking, operates throughout Spain. The program is structured through territorial support networks, promoting collaboration between social organizations, local governments, and other stakeholders in the area (schools, health centers, and social services). This coordination optimizes resources and ensures that each child receives the necessary support according to their individual circumstances and needs.
