Vacuum packed and inside checked luggage: 31 arrested at El Prat for bringing in marijuana from Thailand
The Civil Guard confirms that those arrested were using a new international cannabis trafficking route.

BarcelonaThe Civil Guard has arrested 31 people, with no criminal record or apparent relationship between them, accused of checking in 866 kilos of marijuana on flights from Thailand to El Prat airport (Baix Llobregat), in what amounts to a new international route of this substance.
The investigation began in 2024, following the arrest of three people of Malaysian origin, between August and November, on flights from Bangkok that made stopovers in Dubai, Doha or Abu Dhabi and on which they were transporting 73.4 kilos of marijuana. According to police sources informed the ARA, the modus operandi of those arrested consisted of hiding the drugs vacuum-packed in packages in checked luggage.
After analyzing the profiles of the detainees and the routes used, the Civil Guard established a risk pattern and launched intensive surveillance of a possible new marijuana trafficking route on flights from Thailand to Barcelona.
According to the armed forces, the operation, dubbed Thaigreen, has uncovered a new international marijuana trafficking route. Since then, the Civil Guard has arrested 31 people, of whom 24 have been imprisoned.
