Two arrested for the shooting at a bar in Poble-sec in December 2023
The execution was part of a conflict over drug trafficking.
BarcelonaThe Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested two men for their alleged connection to the shooting of another man. past midnight on December 24, 2023Both arrested men are alleged to be hitmen hired as part of a Dominican drug war, as has been reported. The Newspaper and ARA has been able to confirm. Specifically, at around 1 a.m., a man entered a bar in Poble-sec and opened fire on another man. A motorcycle driver was waiting for him, and they fled.
The method (an execution) and the people involved (allegedly linked to drug trafficking by Dominican gangs) quickly led the Mossos d'Esquadra to think of revenge for drugs. Security cameras have been key to the investigation, since even a camera in the bar clearly recorded the execution.
Finally, the Mossos d'Esquadra managed to arrest the two alleged hitmen on December 12, 2024, one in Madrid and the other in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. Furthermore, those involved could be linked to other similar crimes in Spain. Specifically, according to police sources, once they were arrested, the Mossos d'Esquadra detected that they could be linked to a murder on December 4 in Carballo, A Coruña.
The Mossos d'Esquadra investigation is ongoing because it remains to be seen who gave the order to murder the victim at the Poble Sec bar. The main hypothesis is that the detainees were hired hitmen.
