Three Canadian police officers arrested for sexually assaulting and beating a prostitute in Barcelona
One of the agents has been imprisoned accused of a crime of sexual assault without penetration
Three police officers from Canada have been arrested for sexually assaulting and hitting a prostitute in Barcelona, as reported by 'El Periódico' and confirmed by ACN from police sources. The events occurred last Wednesday in the Ciutat Vella district. The three Canadian police officers, who were on vacation, were in a taxi with the woman when one of them touched her inappropriately. The woman became angry, resisted, and ended up receiving a punch to the face from a second police officer. As a result of the assault, she had to receive medical attention for a deep cut on her eyebrow and filed a complaint with the Mossos d'Esquadra for sexual assault and injury.
The Catalan police officers collected statements from several witnesses and went to the accommodation of the three police officers from Canada. At the hotel, they only found two of the suspects and arrested them. Meanwhile, the third ended up being arrested by the Guardia Civil after fleeing to Palma de Mallorca.
A fugitive
The first police officer, who was a passenger in the taxi and would not have participated in the assault, resisted arrest and is now free, but under investigation for an attack on authority. The second Canadian officer is the one who allegedly touched the woman inappropriately, and the duty court ordered his imprisonment this Friday, which he can avoid by paying bail. The man is accused of a sexual assault offense without penetration.
The third police officer, responsible for punching the victim, was unaccounted for, and the Mossos d'Esquadra activated an alert to locate him. After 48 hours, the Civil Guard intercepted him this Friday in Palma de Mallorca and he was arrested, accused of a crime of assault.
