BarcelonaRescue services found the body of a farmer early this Tuesday at the Marjal de Pego-Oliva natural park, one of the areas most severely hit by the DANA in the Valencian Country. Sources familiar with the case cited by the Efe agency indicate that they are investigating whether this death is related to this Monday's torrential rain episode. If so, it would be the fourth victim in the Valencian Country.

Workers from a nearby company found the man's body in a field near the N-332 road in the municipality of Oliva before ten in the morning and reported the finding. According to the Civil Guard, the farmer had likely gone to his plot and suffered a health problem that caused his death. At this moment, they are waiting for the removal of the body.

The storm associated with the DANA has left three confirmed deaths so far and forced the confinement of 900,000 people. The torrential rainfall reached more than 700 liters per square meter in some areas of La Safor and Marina Alta. These are historic records. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) noted that it could be the most significant rainfall episode in the area since November 1987.

The rainfall caused flooding and the overflowing of the Girona river as it passed through Beniarbeig, while there were also fears that the Beniopa ravine in Gandia would overflow. The storm forced the Generalitat to send several alerts to the mobile phones of the inhabitants of the most affected regions so that they would avoid travel and take refuge in safe places.

Even the Military Emergency Unit (UME) was deployed to Oliva, one of the most affected municipalities, to support emergency teams and assist in rescues by boat and helicopter in the flooded areas.
