They are looking for a sixteen-year-old adolescent missing at sea off the coast of Roses
The emergency services have already extended the search to Torroella de Montgrí
BarcelonaEmergency teams have been searching since Wednesday night for a minor under sixteen years old who disappeared at sea in Roses, in Alt Empordà, on a jet ski. They are searching by land, sea, and air in an operation that includes the Bombers de la Generalitat, the Mossos d'Esquadra, Agents Rurals, Salvament Marítim, the Red Cross, and the Guardia Civil, which is in charge of the investigation.
The search has now been extended to Torroella de Montgrí. The Deputy Inspector of the Firefighters and head of intervention for the operation, Pol Artau, explained that they have carried out a simulation and that it indicates that sea currents and the wind blowing could have pushed him south and towards a point on the coast. At midday, the local police of Pals found the jet ski on which the minor was traveling.
According to sources from the Firefighters, the boy went out on the jet ski with a group of two other boys and a monitor from the rental company. For reasons that are being investigated, the young man did not return with the rest of the group to Santa Margarida as planned. According to Artau, the last time he was seen was between the mouth and the port of Roses.
Salvament Marítim has specified that he was with the rest of the group off the coast of l'Almadrava and Canyelles, and the last place he was seen was in the area of the Trinitat castle. The family, who have traveled to the area, states that the boy disappeared long before the alert was given to the emergency teams, around half past eight in the evening.
Without "indications"
Maritime Rescue has confirmed to the ACN that the overturned motorcycle was found on Pals beach, near the municipality of Begur, around a quarter to three in the afternoon. Artau explained that there are dozens of personnel mobilized by land, sea, and air, and that the hypothesis they are working with is that the currents and the wind blowing in the area could have dragged it to the area of L'Escala and Torroella de Montgrí.
The Maritime Rescue simulator has concluded that the drift could have taken him to this area and pushed him towards the coast. Efforts are now focused on combing this entire area. "The search is quite extensive," admitted the deputy inspector. "For now, we want to rule out all the areas we have marked as probable and then we will make new hypotheses," he insisted. Emergency personnel have established a coordination point at the port of Roses from where the operations are being organized.
