They are investigating as a homicide the death of a woman found in a reservoir in Lleida
They located his body last August 19 and at first no signs of violence were seen
BarcelonaOn August 19th, workers at the Utxesa reservoir damsaw a human body floating in the water. The discovery was made in the municipality of Torres de Segre, in the Segrià region. When the Mossos d'Esquadra arrived at the scene, they confirmed it was the corpse of a woman who had been in the water for some time, days. Apparently, there were no signs of violence, but the autopsy caused a radical turn in this assumption.
As ARA has learned, the Mossos are investigating the death of this woman, aged around 50, as a homicide. The autopsy determined that the death had not been from natural causes, nor was it accidental: she had not drowned, but rather there were clear signs of criminality. The main police hypothesis is that someone killed her and then disposed of the corpse by throwing it into this reservoir.
Specialists from the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of the Mossos have an open investigation for homicide and no one has been arrested yet.
Two more cases
Precisely two months earlier, on June 3rd, the Mossos d'Esquadra also located the lifeless body of a man floating in the same reservoir in Segrià. This corpse had been in the water for many days and the police have ruled out that it was a criminal death. On that same day, another lifeless body of a woman was located in the Segre river, as it passes through Lleida, and this second case is being investigated as a criminal death, although it is not entirely clear either.
The process to identify this last victim was complex, as she was not carrying any identity document or phone, to the point that the police asked for citizen collaboration. Finally, the Mossos already know who she is and this investigation also remains open.
