BarcelonaThe until now Secretary General of the Department of the Interior of the Generalitat, Tomàs Carrión, has resigned from his position as the number two of the department, according to sources from the department explained to ARA. From now on, Joana Ricardo Hoyos, who until now has been Director General of Security Administration, will assume this position.
Carrión is the second right-hand person of a department that will leave its position this Monday, after this morning the Minister of Education, Esther Niubó, announced the replacement of the Secretary General of Education, Teresa Sambola, in the appearance to give explanations about the fiasco with the PISA tests sample.
Regarding the new incorporation to Parlon's team, the department has highlighted that Ricardo has a Law degree from the University of Barcelona (UB) - Abat Oliba CEU and holds a Master's Degree in Public Management and Leadership from INAP and UIMP. She is a career civil servant in local administration, with a long career in the public sector and in the field of administrative law. In this field, she has served, among others, as head of the Legal Services and acting Secretary General of the Santa Coloma de Gramenet City Council, and also as a technician in the Office Against Fraud of Catalonia.
He is leaving "of his own free will"
The move in the Interior Department, which was reported by El Periódico, is due to a personal decision. According to sources from the Interior Department, Carrión has communicated "his desire to leave the department of his own free will" to return to his position at the Santa Coloma de Gramenet City Council and "start a new phase and a new life project".
The same sources added that the Minister of the Interior, Núria Parlon, "especially appreciates his work, which he has carried out with great professionalism, extraordinary dedication, and a clear willingness to serve". The department also values that during his time in office, Carrión has also contributed to "promoting and reorganizing various internal circuits of the department, which now operate more efficiently".
