"The Mossos d'Esquadra will blame me": He was imprisoned for killing his partner and living with their corpse for eight months.

The autopsy concludes that the woman died from head trauma.

BarcelonaThe Barcelona Court of Violence against Women No. 3 has remanded RN, the 55-year-old man, to provisional prison. that the Mossos d'Esquadra arrested last Sunday for the death of her partner in an apartment in Ciutat Meridiana, in the Nou Barris district of Barcelona. As reported by ARA, the woman's body was found in a room of the apartment and was wrapped in plastic and duct tape. Sources consulted by this newspaper indicated on Monday that, according to initial estimates, the victim had been dead for more than six months. Now, in the resolution to send RN to prison, the judge specifies that the man allegedly killed the couple and then hid the body in a sealed room for eight months.

The body was in an advanced state of decomposition, which has hampered the investigation and the identification of the cause of death. Finally, the preliminary autopsy concludes that it was a criminal death, caused by head trauma. These events date back to September 2024 and did not come to light until this Sunday. Specifically, according to the judge's ruling, RN alerted his brother with several audio recordings, saying that his partner had been dead at home for several months. He said that because of this, he could end up "admitted" somewhere. "The Mossos d'Esquadra are going to blame me," he also stated, and the judge concluded that this shows he was aware that he had done something wrong. At that point, he spoke of confessing and cooperating with the police. In response, the brother went to the home and, seeing that what his brother was saying was true, called the police.

"Improbable version"

"There are clear indications that RN allegedly committed the crime of homicide," the judge concludes, sending him to prison. "The defendant offers an implausible version of events," she adds. Specifically, RN argues that the victim suffered from personality disorders and an 81% disability, in addition to suicidal behavior. He claims that on September 29, 2024, he found her body and does not know how she died. He then admits that he did not call the emergency services because he was in shock and thought it was all a dream, so he took some pills.

He acknowledges, however, that he wrapped the victim in bags to show that the death was not violent, and that he painted the room and put sand in it to prevent it from smelling. He also admits that at that moment, the body fell to the floor twice. During that time, he claims, he only left the house to go to the supermarket. This Saturday, he finally says he told his brother because he couldn't stand it anymore.

"The defendant's version that the victim committed suicide is not compatible with the results of the forensic report, which clearly states that death was caused by head trauma," the judge concludes. Furthermore, RN had warned neighbors that they might smell a bad smell. The defendant also claims that his relationship with the couple was very good, and as ARA explained on Monday, the neighbors deny this and describe episodes of shouting and hitting. They also noted that the detainee was a very conflictive person, who often insulted women on the street.

The detainee's defense team has requested that he be placed in a psychiatric center, something the judge has rejected, saying he is "fully oriented." She adds, however, that the prison where he ends up being admitted can decide which ward to place him in. Pending official confirmation from the government, this would be the third femicide of 2025.
