The judge orders the reconstruction of Andic's fall and summons Jonathan's sisters and therapist

Justice authorizes access to Isak Andic's medical history, but not to his son's communications, as requested by the Prosecutor's Office

BarcelonaThe judicial process to clarify whether the death of Mango founder, Isak Andic, was an accident or a homicide is advancing. This Monday, the High Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) confirmed that the judge from Martorell investigating the case has accepted the Public Prosecutor's Office's request to reconstruct the fatal fall, which took place on December 14. The businessman fell during a hike in Montserrat, accompanied only by his son, Jonathan Andic, who is currently the only person under investigation for the case. On the other hand, the magistrate has summoned Jonathan's sisters (and the businessman's daughters), as well as the family's therapist, for questioning, as confirmed by Europa Press.

the death of Mango founder Isak AndicIn addition, the judge has requested access to the medical, care, and pharmacological history of Isak Andic, either through the Servei Català de la Salut (CatSalut) or through the medical entity linked to Mango founder's health card. In fact, the defense has presented an expert report to the court concluding that the Mango founder fell "fortuitously", with an initial stumble and a "slide" into the void, after reconstructing in 3D and with mannequins the "pattern" of the fall he suffered months earlier, due to his knees failing due to arthrosis. In light of this information, the Public Prosecutor's Office considered this information "potentially relevant" to clarify the facts, and the judge has authorized access to it.

Relevant statements

In the order, the judge also summons a dozen witnesses, including the two daughters of Isak Andic and sisters of Jonathan, Isak Andic's partner, the CEO of Mango, and the Andics' secretary. Almost all the witnesses appeared before the Mossos d'Esquadra and will now have to ratify their statements before the judge, the prosecutor, and the lawyers of the parties.

The magistrate also requests that the identification of the two hikers who interacted with Jonathan Andic after his father's fall and death, and who were not interviewed by the Mossos, be investigated. Furthermore, the magistrate handling the case has summoned a dozen witnesses to testify, as well as two agents from the Mountain Intervention Unit, as reported yesterday by La Vanguardia.

Additionally, the family therapist is included as a witness. As published by ARA, the police found messages on the tycoon's phone with his son that showed tension between the two of them and which would be framed within a kind of therapeutic procedure that Jonathan Andic was receiving and from which comments against his father were derived.

In fact, the judge had previously asked the Mossos to investigate whether third parties could have been involved in the homicide and, specifically, to analyze the "influence" that the family psychotherapist may have had on the events. However, the defense assures that the identified messages must be understood exclusively within a psychoanalytic therapy, where the coach herself fostered confrontation.

And the trip to Ecuador?

On the other hand, in her reasoning, the judge halts some of the most intrusive measures requested by the Prosecutor's Office. Arguing that “the right to evidence is not an unlimited right,” she suspends the investigation into the lightning trip Jonathan Andic made to Ecuador – the prosecution suggests he might have taken advantage of it to get rid of the phone, but the defense claims he simply lost it –, the analysis of his bank movements and access to all his computers and other devices. In this regard, the magistrate will not rule on the suitability of these measures until the public prosecutor provides additional information.

Along the same lines, the judge requires more information before authorizing the request to Apple for data on access and geolocation of his iPhone, the examination of terminals connected to the telephone antennas in the area of the events, and the analysis of communications and traffic records.

Finally, the judge has also asked the Mossos to carry out a technical report regarding the use of WhatsApp Web and whether the application can be used or not without a mobile phone –Jonathan sent a message from his laptop to Mango's secretary from Ecuador, when he claims his device had already been stolen–, and has agreed to ask Mango for a record of the phones that have been delivered and received by each of the company's employees and vips. More specifically, she has requested a record of all the devices the company provided to Jonathan Andic between the years 2020 and 2025.
