A fire in Collserola forces the confinement of the neighborhoods of Torre Baró and Ciutat Meridiana

BarcelonaFirefighters are working on a fire that broke out this Tuesday north of Collserola, near the Canyelles neighborhood (Nou Barris) and above the Alta de Roquetes road, heading towards Sant Cugat. In the area, personnel from the Barcelona Firefighters and the Generalitat Firefighters are working, with a total of 16 ground and air units. The City Council of the Catalan capital has also activated the Municipal Action Plan (PAM) for Forest Fires in the Alert phase.

As a preventive measure, residents of Torre Baró and Ciutat Meridiana have been confined. Civil Protection has sent them an Es-alert message. Residents of Torre Baró explain to ARA that agents of the Guardia Urbana have also warned residents who were on the street to return home and close doors and windows. As they describe, the smoke and the strong smell of burning are felt throughout the neighborhood. The flames are also visible from the highest part of the neighborhood.

The fire affects an area of about 25 hectares of forest land within the Serra de Collserola Natural Park, according to provisional data. The fire broke out at 3:20 PM in a scrubland area, according to municipal sources, and the smoke column is "significant", although they believe the fire is not as serious as the one two weeks ago also in Collserola.

Bus route disruptions

As a consequence of the fire, traffic has also had to be restricted on the road from Horta to Cerdanyola del Vallès; the Collserola cemetery road and the high road of els Roquetes. In addition, several stops on bus lines V27, 27, 47 and 127 have also been cancelled, and their routes have been modified.

Members of the Guàrdia Urbana de Barcelona (GUB) have immediately moved to the scene to secure the perimeter and regulate mobility. In parallel, a preventive alert has been issued to all municipalities bordering the natural park to maintain maximum institutional coordination.
