Police macro-operation in Girona against marijuana cultivation: 600 agents deployed

The Mossos are looking to dismantle a criminal group that they also link to arms possession and money laundering

BarcelonaThe Mossos d'Esquadra deployed a police operation in Girona and several municipalities in the province early this Tuesday to dismantle a network dedicated to the cultivation of marijuana and the distribution of narcotic substances, as reported by the force in a message on X. The same message adds that the criminal group is also linked to the possession of weapons and money laundering.

Currently, there are about 600 agents deployed and searches are being carried out in two apartments in the Font de la Pólvora neighborhood of Girona, among others, reports the ACN. So far, the police have entered two apartments on Font de la Pólvora avenue and identified two people. The agents found an indoor marijuana plantation in at least one of the two homes. Interventions are also being carried out in Riudarenes, Cassà de la Selva, L'Escala, Sils, Caldes de Malavella, Brunyola, Llagostera, Bescanó, Celrà, Quart, and Salt.

The police deployment includes agents from the Special Intervention Group (GEI), BRIMO and ARRO, as well as forensic police and the canine unit. Aerial means would also be used, according to the ACN.
