BarcelonaThe Mossos d'Esquadra have located in Lloret de Mar a six-year-old minor who was registered as stolen by the French judicial authorities and who had been missing for months with her mother and maternal grandmother. The investigation began a year ago. The search was activated following the issuance of two European Arrest and Surrender Warrants (EASO) by the French authorities against the mother and grandmother, for an alleged crime of child abduction reported by the girl's father.

Shortly before, the French justice system had withdrawn the minor's custody from the mother, for disobeying different judicial resolutions on several occasions and for repeatedly failing to comply with the visitation regime. The mother had prevented the girl from maintaining contact with her father and had expressed her intention to leave the country with the minor if custody were withdrawn.

After leaving France, the three individuals traveled to Spain. Although it was initially known that they were in La Jonquera, their whereabouts were lost until, at the end of last month, investigators obtained new information that placed them in Lloret de Mar. Finally, on March 31, the mother, grandmother, and the girl were located in the Fenals beach area.

Once located, the officers verified that the girl had not been schooled at any time since her abduction in France. The police also confirmed that the three individuals were residing in the basement of an occupied dwelling, in very precarious conditions, without any electricity or water supply, which, according to the security force, indicated a situation of risk for the minor.

Once her identity was confirmed, the minor was placed under the custody of the Directorate General for the Prevention and Protection of Children and Adolescents (DGPPI) until her handover to the French authorities. The girl's mother and grandmother were arrested.
