One of the minors arrested for the Manresa crime was on supervised release for an attempted homicide
The two arrested had records, but the facts have no relation to the deadly stabbing
BarcelonaThe two teenagers, aged fifteen and sixteen, arrested this week for allegedly killing a man in Manresa during the local festival had already been arrested before for cases unrelated to this week's fatal stabbing in the Bages region. In fact, one of them—the fifteen-year-old—had been interned until a few weeks ago as a precautionary measure in a case where he is being investigated for a violent robbery and attempted homicide in April, according to sources familiar with the case who spoke to ARA.
Following Monday's crime, this week a judge has ordered closed-regime internment for both, and for the fifteen-year-old boy, he has also ordered therapeutic treatment. This teenager was interned as a precaution from the beginning of May until the end of July. Since August, the minor was under supervised release as a precautionary measure while the judicial investigation into the robbery and attempted homicide from April was still ongoing.
The other detainee, aged sixteen, had no precautionary measures in force, although he did have two prior records for cases that were still under investigation. Specifically, he has an open case for a violent robbery in January of this year and another for vehicle theft and driving without a license at the end of June.
Shock and racist messages
The violent death of Carles Vilajosana, a resident of Castellnou del Bages, has shocked the region this week and also sparked a wave of racist messages, with calls for protests in the regional capital. However, as the Minister of the Interior, Núria Parlon, clarified, both of those arrested were born in Catalonia. One of them is from a Catalan family and the other is from elsewhere.The Mossos d'Esquadra keep the investigation open to determine if there could be more people involved in the events, which are situated in the context of a fight between two groups of four or five people each. The stabbing was around five o'clock on Tuesday at dawn. The next day, the police arrested the two youths who are now interned.
