Minor arrested for fatally stabbing a man in the heart of Barcelona

BarcelonaA minor killed a man tonight in the heart of Barcelona. The events occurred at midnight, and subsequently the Guardia Urbana arrested the perpetrator of the stabbing. As of today, according to police sources, everything indicates that the alleged perpetrator of the crime, while with his partner, had suffered a robbery by a group that included the victim. After the robbery, a few meters away, on Cera street, in El Raval, he allegedly retaliated with a knife attack.

With just a few minutes to midnight, the Mossos d'Esquadra received notification of the incident. Emergency Medical Services attended to the assaulted person, but they were in critical condition. They transferred him to a hospital, where he has since died.

According to the reconstruction that the ARA has been able to make from various testimonies, after the stabbing, the minor and his partner went to Marqués de Campo Sagrado street, a few meters from where the murder had occurred. A group of people, including those who had robbed him, chased him and began to throw glass bottles and even a bicycle at him, while the young man wielded a knife and tried to protect himself from the throwing of objects.

The crowd managed to corner the minor at the intersection of Viladomat and Marqués de Campo Sagrado streets. "There was a lot of shouting, cars honking because they said someone had a knife. You could hear a girl screaming," explains a neighbor who saw it from her balcony. A few minutes later, the Barcelona Urban Guard arrested the young man. Another neighbor, who was at the entrance of his house after arriving from work, saw the fight and witnessed how the young people threw objects, including a bicycle, at the perpetrator of the stabbing.

The Criminal Investigation Division of the Mossos d'Esquadra has taken charge of the case, which is under secret investigation.

Double murder

This is the second violent stabbing death in a few hours in the metropolitan area of Barcelona. On Saturday morning, a man murdered a young woman with whom he had no prior relationship, near the Sant Joan de Déu hospital in Esplugues de Llobregat. He stabbed her several times and, after a pursuit by the Mossos d'Esquadra along Barcelona's Diagonal, he was arrested in the Les Corts neighborhood.
