Minor arrested for fatally stabbing a man in the center of Barcelona

BarcelonaA minor killed a man this Saturday night in the center of Barcelona. The events happened at midnight, and later the Guardia Urbana arrested the perpetrator of the stabbing. As of today, according to police sources, everything indicates that the alleged author of the crime – who was with his partner – would have been robbed by a group that included the victim. After the robbery, a few meters away, on Cera street, in El Raval, it would have escalated to a stabbing.

With a few minutes to go until midnight, the Mossos d'Esquadra received the alert about the incident. Emergency Medical Services attended to the assaulted person, but they were in critical condition. They transferred him to a hospital, where he has ended up dying.

According to the reconstruction that the ARA has been able to make from various testimonies, after the stabbing, the attacker –who is a minor– and his partner walked towards Marquès de Campo Sagrado street, a few meters from where the murder had occurred. A group of people, including those who had robbed him, chased him and began to throw glass bottles and even a bicycle at him, while the young man brandished a knife and tried to protect himself from the thrown objects.

The crowd managed to corner the minor at the intersection of Viladomat and Marquès de Campo Sagrado streets. "There was a lot of shouting and the cars were honking. They said someone had a knife. You could hear a girl screaming," explains a neighbor who saw everything from her balcony. A few minutes later, the Barcelona Urban Guard arrested the young man. Another neighbor, who was in the doorway of his house after arriving from work, saw the fight and watched as the young people threw objects, including a bicycle, at the perpetrator of the stabbing.

The Criminal Investigation Division of the Mossos d'Esquadra has taken charge of the case, which is under seal of proceedings.

Double murder

This is the second violent stabbing death in a few hours in the metropolitan area of Barcelona. On Saturday morning, a man murdered a young woman with whom he had no prior relationship, in the vicinity of the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital in Esplugues de Llobregat. He stabbed her several times and, after a pursuit by the Mossos d'Esquadra along Barcelona's Diagonal, the man was arrested in the Les Corts neighborhood.

And, in fact, there has been a third stabbing. In this case, in the Forum area of the Catalan capital at 3:30 in the morning. A group of unidentified individuals has injured a young man, who was hospitalized and his life is not in danger. The Mossos d'Esquadra are looking for the perpetrators of the assault.
