The Civil Guard is investigating the death of a 3-year-old girl in Torrevieja, in the Vega Baja region, as a possible case of vicarious violence. The child was found hanged, and the body of her father, also deceased, was found at the scene. As reported by the EFE news agency, last night the girl's mother, who is also the former partner of the alleged perpetrator, alerted the Civil Guard because she had been unable to contact the man for several hours and feared he might harm her daughter. Upon receiving the alert, the police went to the home of the alleged murderer and found, in the early hours of the morning, the bodies of the girl and the man in the basement. Although there are no prior formal reports of abuse between the girl's parents, when the 36-year-old mother went to the Civil Guard, she explained that she had suffered abuse and that her former partner, the girl's father, had threatened to kill their daughter. The events are being investigated by the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard in Alicante, and initial indications suggest it is a case of murder within the context of vicarious violence. They also indicate that the man committed suicide after killing the three-year-old girl. The girl's mother had to be taken to the hospital due to an anxiety attack. The Government Delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, described the crime as "unbearable terrorism" in a message to X, where she conveyed her condolences "to the family and friends" of the victims. A man shoots and kills a woman in Zaragoza.

This Saturday morning, a possible case of gender-based violence also came to light. A man shot and killed a woman in the street in Zaragoza and then committed suicide. The Spanish government delegate in Aragon, Fernando Beltrán, confirmed the events and explained that the man knew the victim's movements and acted "with extreme cruelty" and with the intention of killing her. Beltrán also explained that the killer had a license for sporting firearms and used a competition gun to fire several shots. In fact, the government delegate wanted to make it very clear that this was in no way an accident due to the handling of the weapon or that the man had displayed it to intimidate the woman. "There was a clear intention to inflict harm," he emphasized. Besides the murder weapon, the killer was carrying other firearms, all sporting weapons, which the police have recovered.

At the moment, the relationship between the two has not been confirmed, nor whether it is a new case of gender-based violence, although Beltrán has confirmed that there were no prior complaints filed by the woman against the man.

If it is confirmed as a case of gender-based violence, it would bring the number of women murdered by their partners or ex-partners in the State this year to 14. "We are experiencing a true scourge in what this type of violence against women represents, perpetrated simply for being women," Beltrán warned. "It is sickening to consider a woman an object and a possession that, if you don't have her, you take her life."
