BarcelonaThe Civil Guard is investigating the death of a three-year-old girl in Torrevieja, in La Vega Baja, as a possible crime of vicarious violence. The little girl was found hanging and the body of her father, also deceased, was also found. As reported by the Efe agency, last night the girl's mother and ex-partner of the alleged perpetrator of the crime alerted the Civil Guard because she had not been able to contact the man for hours and was afraid he might harm her daughter. Upon receiving the alert, the police went to the alleged murderer's house and found, in the early morning, the lifeless bodies of the girl and the man in the basement of the house.

Although there are no previous formal complaints of mistreatment between the minor's parents, when the mother, 36, alerted the Civil Guard, she explained that she had suffered mistreatment and that her ex-partner and the girl's father had threatened to kill her daughter if she did not break up.

The events are being investigated by the judicial police of the Civil Guard of Alicante and the first indications point to a case of murder within the scope of vicarious violence. They also indicate that the man would have committed suicide after taking the life of the girl, only three years old. The minor's mother had to be taken to the hospital due to an anxiety attack.

The Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, described the crime as "unbearable terrorism" in a message on X where she conveyed her affection "to the family and friends" of the victims.

Man shoots ex-partner dead in Zaragoza

This Saturday morning, a new case of sexist violence has also come to light. A man shot and killed a woman in the street in Zaragoza and then committed suicide. The victim and the aggressor had been in a relationship that ended a few months ago, and the woman had not filed any prior complaints against the man, nor was he registered in the comprehensive monitoring system for gender violence cases (VioGén). The Spanish government delegate in Aragon, Fernando Beltrán, confirmed the facts and stated that it was done "with extreme cruelty" and with the intention of causing death. Beltrán also explained that the killer had a license for sporting weapons and used a competition-grade one to fire several shots. In fact, the government delegate wanted to make it very clear that in no case was it an accident due to mishandling the weapon or that the man had shown it to intimidate the woman. "There was a clear intention to inflict harm," he remarked. Besides the murder weapon, the killer was carrying more weapons, all sporting ones, which the police have recovered.

With the victim from Zaragoza, there are now 14 women who have been murdered by their partners or ex-partners in the State this 2026. "We are experiencing a real scourge in what this type of violence exercised against women for the mere fact of being women entails," warned Beltrán, who warned that "the woman is an object and is a possession that, if not possessed, her life is taken."
