BarcelonaA new major police operation has been launched in Barcelona's Raval neighborhood. The Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) launched an operation this Thursday morning to dismantle several criminal groups involved in receiving stolen goods—that is, profiting from reselling goods stolen by another person—which the police link to theft and repeated offenses. They searched three homes and six grocery stores in Barcelona's Ciutat Vella district, one in Badalona and another in Sant Andreu de la Barca. They also searched a butcher shop and a fruit and vegetable store located across the street from the properties they seized. The police also searched a nearby supermarket. They were in the area because their cell phones were stolen: "The location [of the phone] tells them it's at this point," he explains. Several maintenance workers also claim that since Wednesday they had seen officers "checking documentation" on the street where the police intervention finally took place this Thursday. The operation against him was led by the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of Barcelona, with the participation of the Ciutat Vella Information Unit and the Barcelona Regional Investigation Area.We are working to expand this information.]
