Macro-operation against two marijuana cartels in Lleida and Tarragona
More than 200 Mossos officers participate in the operations, which include entries into properties and industrial warehouses
BarcelonaThe Mossos d'Esquadra have deployed two major operations against drug trafficking this Tuesday morning. The first focuses on Lleida and Seròs, in El Segrià, to arrest members of a criminal network involved in cannabis production and arms trafficking. The operation involves nearly 200 officers and includes raids on properties and industrial warehouses in both towns. So far, the Mossos have made eleven arrests, seized over 1,000 marijuana plants, and also found weapons and ammunition.
One of the locations where the operation is being deployed is the Mariola neighborhood of Lleida, where several searches have been conducted and one person has been arrested, as the ACN has been able to confirm. Additionally, a marijuana plantation has been found in a basement and some weapons have been seized. Technicians from the electricity company are also present at the site because those involved in the network allegedly tapped into the power supply.
The operation includes personnel from the Criminal Investigation Division, the Brimo, the Arro, the scientific police, and the canine unit, as well as air support and members of the central command and the citizen security unit. The actions, which are under summary secrecy, are being carried out in coordination with the Prosecutor's Office and with court 3 of the instruction section of the Court of First Instance of Lleida.
In parallel, also this Tuesday morning, the Mossos and the Civil Guard have launched an operation in various towns in the provinces of Tarragona and Granada to dismantle an organization dedicated to marijuana cultivation and money laundering. The police are conducting searches in companies that would be involved in this laundering.
