BarcelonaThe Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating an attack with a bladed weapon suffered by a follower of the Europa football club this Sunday in Nou Barris, after the promotion match that the Gracienc team played against Celta B. The fan was seriously injured in the stomach, but his life is not in danger. The Catalan police arrested the alleged aggressor that same afternoon not far from the scene, after he tried to flee and hide in a building entrance.

It all happened in a bar on Rio de Janeiro avenue, and the Mossos are investigating whether there is an ideological motivation behind the events. Specifically, according to sources consulted by ARA, the discussion between the detainee and the victim began because the arrested person was carrying a Spanish flag. Shortly after, however, without coming to blows and without any escalation in tone, the detainee allegedly responded with the attack with a bladed weapon.

Precisely for this reason, it is being investigated whether there was an ideological motivation in the attack, as the police believe that the discussion would not have started without the Spanish flag carried by the detainee. They are also looking into whether the investigated person has mental health problems. In addition to a crime of injury, the man was also arrested for a crime of damage, as he also broke the bar door during the assault.

Statement from the fan section

The fan group of the Europa football club, the Eskapulats, issued a statement this Monday. They assure that a member of the group "was stabbed by a 52-year-old Spanish fascist." The Europa fan group added to the text: "Let everyone be clear that any attempt to whitewash the aggressor's ideological motivation, to lie about the origin of the attempted murder, and to generate doubts about the context will find us head-on, and we will go as far as necessary to preserve the truth.

Along these lines, the Eskapulats concluded in their statement that "fascism murders and feels unpunished." "It puts us all at risk, and this time it tried it with one of us. We continue to confront it. No aggression without response," they concluded in the text disseminated on social media.
