The incident dates back to Tuesday, June 24, when Emergency Medical System (SEM) personnel responded to Trinxant Street in the Sant Andreu district because a man was seriously injured at a blog post. The man was 37 years old and eventually died despite the paramedics' resuscitation efforts.
Although initial reports of blows and bruises were reported, the wounds were eventually determined to be from a knife wound. Everything pointed to a fight with an unknown perpetrator. It was quickly treated as a homicide, and the Criminal Investigation Division of the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) in Barcelona took over the case. As the days went by, homicide specialists identified the prime suspect. They finally located him and arrested him last Thursday in Barcelona. The arrested man is considered the alleged perpetrator of the crime, although at this time it has not been determined whether he knew the victim.
After being arrested on Thursday, the man was brought before a court over the weekend. According to this newspaper, he has now been remanded in custody.
