"Hit him already, hit him already": young people looking for and recording random victims in the Eixample

BarcelonaAt night, in Barcelona's Eixample district, a young man approaches a man and asks for a light. A companion of the young man is filming. Comments can be heard such as: "Hit him already, hit him already". Suddenly, the young man slaps the man hard in the face and, just as suddenly, four friends of the young man appear and hit him and kick him.

This scene is repeated with a young boy walking through the Eixample or with a couple sitting on a bench. They are random assaults, which the perpetrators record and then upload to social networks like Instagram, where they go viral. In some of the videos, you can see how after the assault they get into a car quickly and leave the scene.

Call to victims

The Mossos d'Esquadra are already investigating who is behind these assaults. In fact, the Catalan police are calling on those who have suffered this type of assault to file a complaint at the Eixample police station or contact them via social media.

Investigators, according to police sources, have already managed to locate one of the victims, who has filed a complaint. For now, the assailants have not been located, but in the videos, some of them are visible and the Mossos are reviewing security cameras to obtain the car's license plate. The police are working with the hypothesis that these are completely gratuitous and random assaults, with no other motivation than to record them and post them on social media.
