Free commuter rail passes for May and June are now available for application.

Season tickets for free travel on Cercanías and Regional services in May and June are now available for purchase. The purchase price remains the same: €10 for the Cercanías season ticket and €20 for regional trains. This time, however, the season tickets will not be valid for four months as before, but will only be valid for travel during May and June. To compensate for the reduction in season ticket validity—two months instead of four—Transport has reduced the minimum number of trips required to obtain a refund of the deposit: previously, a minimum of 16 trips was required, but now the new minimum is eight.
The reason the new season ticket is only valid for two months, as opposed to the current four, is that the Spanish government has decided not to maintain the free service, which has been in place since September 2022. Starting in June, commuter trains will once again require a fee, albeit at a flat rate of €20 per month, an amount that will be reduced to €10 for two passengers. Children and adolescents up to the age of 14 will travel free.
A new feature of the last two months is that it's now possible to purchase a pass through the Cercanías app. The app generates a code that can be downloaded to your phone and used to access stations.
