Four Police officers arrested suspected of bribery and other crimes
The judge handling the case will interrogate them this Friday
BarcelonaInternal Affairs at the Catalan police (known as the Mossos de Esquadra) have arrested four officers under investigation by a Rubí judge. They are suspected of several crimes, among them those of bribery, robbery and revelation of secrets. The four policemen have spent the night in the dungeon of the police station of Les Corts in Barcelona and this morning they have been transferred to Rubí so that the magistrate in charge of the case takes their statement and decides whether he imposes some kind of precautionary measure.
Among those arrested there is an officer on leave who, according to La Vanguardia, is the head of a security company that has made a fortune as a result of the pandemic. This man would also have been in charge for years of obtaining security services and organising trips for VIPs including former Barça player Leo Messi.
Police sources explain that the arrests were made on Thursday afternoon in Barcelona, Santa Perpètua de la Mogoda and Montcada i Reixac. The investigators also searched a company located in Barcelona. All the information obtained has been transferred to the magistrate, who is waiting to interrogate the four officers this Friday
The investigators do not rule out further arrests. The case is sub judice, but they are suspected of crimes of bribery, robbery, disclosure of secrets and arbitrary enforcement of the law.
