Equality's group of experts on vicarious violence has no conclusions nine months later

BarcelonaThe expert group on vicarious violence created by the previous team from the Department of Equality and Feminism has yet to present the conclusions of its analysis of the situation, having already exceeded the six-month timeframe established by the department by three months. The department, currently headed by Eva Menor, assures ARA that the delay is due to the fact that "we wanted to expand the sample of cases to be analyzed in order to definitively finalize the report." However, no date has yet been set.

The alleged Five children were killed in the first four months last year they alerted the department of the then councilor Tània Verge, which, in mid-Juneand commissioned the group of experts to carry out an in-depth analysis and make concrete proposals on how to improve the safety of minors living in situations of gender-based violence.

Finally, in November, the same department ruled out the possibility that two of the minors found dead with their father in an apartment in the Barcelona neighborhood of Horta during the Christmas holidays were murdered, as the judicial investigation attributed the deaths to accidental carbon monoxide poisoning.

The group is made up of 10 professionals from various fields: from psychology to gender-based violence, law, mental health, and children's rights. Sources familiar with the group's workings explain that the document is almost finished and several drafts have already been made, but not all discussions have yet been completed.

The Vicarious Violence Committee is one of the 80 groups, commissions, or expert panels that various governments have convened to address urgent social issues over the past five years. This dynamic means that a group is created every month, according to estimates by the SER Catalunya network.
