BarcelonaHe storm that devastates a large part of Catalonia Rain continues across much of the country, but especially in the far northeast. Civil Protection has sent an alert to mobile phones in the municipalities of Alt and Baix Empordà, La Selva, and Gironès due to the risk of river overflows and flooding. As a preventative measure, classes, sports activities, and those at residences and day centers have been suspended in the four regions. The University of Girona (UdG) has also suspended academic activities and recommended that its staff work remotely whenever possible.

"We must be very alert and vigilant," said Marta Cassany, Director General of Civil Protection, in an interview with Catalunya Ràdio. She identified the Daró, Onyar, and Ter rivers as the most susceptible to flooding. She urged people to avoid traveling to the affected municipalities—at least until 5:00 p.m.—and, above all, to stay away from riverbanks. "Finally, if water enters your home, do not go down to basements; go up to upper floors," she added.

The Daró River as it passes through La Bisbal d'Empordà and the Onyar River in Girona have exceeded the danger threshold as rain continues in the area. Specifically, the Daró's flow rate in La Bisbal is 496 cubic meters per second, and 189 cubic meters per second in Serra de Daró, where a significant increase in flow from upstream is expected. The Onyar is approaching 300 cubic meters per second in Girona.

The Girona City Council has reported the closure of the old Creueta bridge, the Sant Feliu road near the cemetery, and Riera de Can Camaret street. In the city, as in other municipalities in the Girona province, rainfall has exceeded 100 liters per square meter in the last few hours.
