Detained in Barcelona a man who was walking down the street with a large knife

BarcelonaThe Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested this Thursday a man who alerted pedestrians by walking with a bladed weapon in his hand through the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district of Barcelona. Mossos agents managed to subdue him with a Taser gun; during the operation, an agent also used his service firearm.

The alert reached the emergency services at 11:45 AM, reporting that a man was walking with a bladed weapon down Mandri street, according to sources from the Mossos. Videos shared by some users on social media show the man walking along General Mitre avenue to the intersection with Muntaner street; it was here that the police were able to subdue him.

Once the man was subdued, the Mossos arrested him for an alleged crime of threats and assault against an authority agent. According to sources close to the case, the man has a diagnosed mental disorder. In this incident, no one was injured, nor was the detainee, who is reportedly a resident of the neighborhood.
