An escort of President Isla was reported for stealing a jacket from a Zara store on Passeig de Gràcia

BarcelonaThe Mossos d'Esquadra received a peculiar warning on Thursday afternoon. A female agent of the Mossos d'Esquadra had been caught by the managers of a Zara store on Passeig de Gràcia in Barcelona committing a theft, according to the digital newspaper The National. The Mossos spokesmen confirmed to the ARA that, upon arrival, the assigned patrol verified that it was a female officer. The woman had tried to steal a jacket from the store without paying.

Although she was identified, the officer was not arrested, because the case is a crime of minor theft and not robbery, but she was reported and is now awaiting trial, explain sources from the Mossos. According to what the ARA has been able to confirm, the officer is part of the Mossos escort corps and, more specifically, belongs to the team that carries out surveillance of the president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa.

The same sources confirm that the woman assures that her intention was not to commit any theft and that what happened is part of a carelessness on her part when leaving the store. The case is in the hands of the Internal Affairs Division (DAI) of the Catalan police, which will have to decide whether, in parallel with the judicial process, to remove the agent from the escort service or not.
