France, Germany, Norway, and Sweden are sending soldiers to Greenland. And Denmark, of course. Spain says it's considering it. These are small contingents that will carry out "reconnaissance" work, in a clear symbolic message to Donald Trump: this is Danish sovereign territory, it's European Union territory, and we don't accept threats. Trump must be laughing, but these countries have done the only thing they can do, which is not to look the other way.

"He should apologize for his systemic mistreatment while they were in government," he added. Turull criticized the People's Party (PP) for having the "audacity" to make this request to Catalan business owners and criticized the PP for boycotting issues such as the official status of Catalan in the European Union. The Junts leader also criticized the PP for carrying out a "preemptive vote of no confidence" against former Barcelona mayor Xavier Trias and allowing Jaume Collboni to become mayor of the Catalan capital. "They should also apologize for everything they did from the state's dirty tricks department to destroy so many Catalan political leaders, both civilly and politically," he added.

At least, that's what the general secretary of Junts tried to convey this Tuesday after the poll was published on Monday, indicating that 21% of Catalans who voted for Carles Puigdemont in the Catalan Parliament would now vote for Aliança Catalana. However, this won't cause Junts to change course. "We won't do things for four votes that will make us blush with shame two years from now [...]. It would be a contradiction if, because of some polls, we made a U-turn," he said at a press conference organized by the Barcelona DailyThe survey, conducted by journalism students at UPF, is the result of a narrative and has both "confessable and unconfessable" intentions behind it, according to Turull. "I'm not worried about the polls, I'm worried about the situation in the country," he said, noting that the CEO's last survey was conducted six months before the 2024 elections. He also predicted a drop in Junts' support. which ultimately did not happen –at that time, however, the party had not yet confirmed Puigdemont as its candidate–. Nevertheless, the secretary general of Junts has avoided vetoing agreements with Sílvia Orriols' party.

The purple party's refusal to allow the law to take its first step in the lower house—what was voted on was its consideration, not its final approval—led to its failure after a debate in which accusations of "centralism" against Podemos to prevent Catalonia from expanding its self-government were mixed with "at the same time." The latter is Podemos's argument to defend the vote against its four deputies. Carles Puigdemont's party, meanwhile, attacked the purple party, accusing it of wanting to apply a "155" in Catalonia on immigration matters with "extreme Spain."

"I will not allow anyone to question the professionalism of the Mossos d'Esquadra," he stated in a message to X. Hours earlier, the Minister of the Interior, Núria Parlon, had also replied to the leader of Podemos, who demanded that she apologize for "inciting hate crimes" against the Mossos d'Esquadra, saying in statements to TV3: "However, Belarra maintained her initial statements and stated that Isla "does not know the country and the reality that she governs," pointing to institutional racism.

The Socialist leader joined forces with his supporters to remain at the head of the Spanish government, and for now, the plurinational majority in Congress is agreeing to give him some breathing room. This is what happened this Tuesday at the meeting between the president of the Spanish executive and Junts (Junts). Despite being the investiture ally that has caused him the most headaches this term, Carles Puigdemont's party has abandoned the harsh tone and threats used on other occasions. "We are responsible people. We know the seriousness of the situation. We will not take hasty measures; we will take them with what is best for Catalonia in mind," stated Junts Secretary General Jordi Turull, upon leaving the hour-and-a-half meeting at Moncloa Palace, which he attended with the spokesperson for Congress, Míriam Nogueras.

Cerdán was in charge of the Spanish Prime Minister's most sensitive missions, so he entrusted him with reaching an agreement with former President Carles Puigdemont. In fact, the PSOE's organizational secretary rose to the political forefront in Catalonia primarily due to the photo taken in the European Parliament negotiating with Puigdemont and the Secretary General of Junts, Jordi Turull. Until now, it has been Cerdán and former Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero who have participated in the monthly meetings in Switzerland with the international mediator. This dialogue has now been left in the air due to the crisis surrounding Pedro Sánchez.

For his part, the general secretary of the Junta, Jordi Turull, has gone against her and has justified the decision. On the microphones of RAC1, Silvia Orriols has highlighted the "trembling of the legs" and has shown herself "open to agreements" with opposition forces, but has made clear her distrust and has said that it is contagious to the absolute majority for the municipal elections of 2027, to which she has guaranteed that it has been guaranteed that. In any case, she has been predisposed to weave the understanding outside of Ripoll with Junts and other "Catalanist formations", despite the harsh criticism she has made of them. A scenario of understanding and breaking the isolation imposed on Aliança Catalana to which Turull has closed the door to the same station. When asked if he rules out making a pact with Aliança Catalana, he was blunt: "I do, I do not want to use hate speeches [...]. We do not want to know anything about it and we want to fight it," he said. And he did not stop there: "Catalonia needs immigration, we do not feel close to it, it is the most anti-to-what Catalonia represents and has been," he concluded.

Two years ago the party was formally founded in an online event, in the midst of the pandemic. Former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont and former Catalan National Assembly (ANC) leader Jordi Sànchez were anointed president and secretary general, although internal tension and strife abounded. Now, Puigdemont and Sànchez, who played leading roles in the 2017 Independence bid, have stepped aside and a new tandem has taken charge: former Catalan minister Jordi Turull, who was a cabinet member in 2017, will be the new secretary general; Speaker Laura Borràs, who has been the party's visible face since the 2020 primaries, will become president. Turull and Borràs managed to piece together a unitary candidacy at the last minute and will now face the challenge of making the power sharing they have agreed on at the top, with half of the leadership team from each camp, operational. They will also have to guide the party after the Puigdemont era. The former president was a uniting figure within the party, but he will now focus on the Council for the Republic instead.

Both have appeared this Tuesday at noon to present their candidacy: Laura Borràs will run for party president and Jordi Turull for secretary general. Yesterday morning they reached an agreement to share power in the party leadership: the statutes will be changed so the president has more powers –it was one of Borràs's conditions to accept the position and not run for secretary general– and other leadership posts have also been agreed. "We are the fathers and sons of October 1st [2017 Independence Referendum]", Turull proclaimed during the press conference to present the candidacy, and Borràs has described it as a "very good agreement" and an "opportunity".
