In the United States, people have been asking for years why a left-wing Joe Rogan doesn't emerge, and our equivalent would be asking the same question about Jordi Wild. These are two extremely popular podcast hosts among teenagers, featuring long conversations with diverse guests and blending entertainment, curiosity, and politics, always with a strong bias in favor of the new right's arguments. Rogan's numbers in particular, and the male-dominated online sphere in general, are so large compared to progressive alternatives that a significant portion of the American left has blamed this digital world for Donald Trump's reelection, just as here, every time Vox gains ground in the polls, we see editorials blaming Elon Musk's algorithms. This past week, these talking points resurfaced following... the Army Awards gala presented by Santiago SeguraThese anti-awards ironically recognize internet personalities and the most viral moments of the year, and have sparked controversy because several nominees left the event denouncing the unbearably fascist atmosphere.

In a country where demonstrations are banned, such a large group is a surprising sight. They are all dressed in black, their faces covered, and belong to the Russian Community, the country's most popular far-right organization. In 2010, the authorities began cracking down on the radical nationalist marches held every November 4th, but now the police give them free rein. What has changed since then? Who are these new radicals?

The paradox is that the change is actually directed toward the day before yesterday, toward a distant past from which we thought we had emancipated ourselves. Perhaps all this is happening because, with some justification, we fear the future.

In short: dreams are disappearing, be it the Catalan dream or the American one: making an effort is no longer enough. It seems as if everything that still holds on to from the welfare state no longer has any value. And all this in a world that spins madly without moral or legal restraints and in a Europe that looks at it paralyzed by fear, like the aristocrat who already sees the sliding doors ofhealthy-culottesthrough the gardens of the residence.

With the slogans "For freedom of speech" and "Unite the Kingdom," the protest demonized everything that is not white, Anglo-Saxon, and of the Christian faith. Protesters used freedom of speech to chant "Take back our country," "Kick them out," and "Stop the boats," for example. The demonstration can be described as historic, given its scale, and marks the culmination of a series of protests that have taken place throughout the summer, with migrants and asylum seekers as targets of anger and frustration. In short, a very disturbing show of ultra-right strength.

Protests and even attacks against centers for minors and migrants have multiplied throughout Spain. The most notable was the incident in Torre Pacheco, but there have also been attacks against centers for minors in Vallirana (with Molotov cocktails), in Marcilla (Navarra), riots in Piera (where incendiary devices were also thrown in May), in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), and in Sabadell, and persecutions in Hernani (Guipúzcoa). In San Sebastián, "hunts" for North African and African people have been organized through a Telegram group. These are just a few of the cases. We thus find ourselves following in the wake of Europe, which has been mired for some time in a crisis of vigilantism where the rise in violence against migrants, and especially North African minors, seems unstoppable.

The consequence is that the person being asked the question perceives they're not considered from here, and they may feel annoyed, insulted, excluded, and discriminated against. One, Ismael, was born in Morocco; the other, Daniel, is a Spaniard born in Torre Pacheco. Both attended the unauthorized gathering that the extremist groups had held for eight o'clock in the evening in the Murcia town. According to one of the organizers, the agitator posing as a journalist, Vito Quiles, the rally didn't take place because the Civil Guard had informed them they were in danger. A threat also targeted the leader of Desokupa, Daniel Esteve, who didn't even show up in the town. However, police sources did not confirm these threats announced by Quiles. "The Civil Guard forced them to leave the town peacefully," sources from the Murcia government delegation stated. "We have no record of any threats," a local police officer confirmed.

The goal: to "avenge" the attack on a 68-year-old man last week, allegedly at the hands of young men of foreign origin.
