Three police officers from Canada have been arrested for sexually assaulting and beating a prostitute in Barcelona, as reported by El Periódico and confirmed by ACN from police sources. The events occurred last Wednesday in the Ciutat Vella district. The three Canadian police officers, who were on vacation, were in a taxi with the woman when one of them touched her inappropriately. The woman got angry, resisted, and ended up receiving a punch to the face from a second police officer. I went to give a talk at a high school and asked the students if they had witnessed any act or instance of discrimination based on sex. Children, boys, and men who are genuinely egalitarian because they do not conceive of relationships in terms of submission until they are taught to be the masters of their female counterparts. Although feminism must primarily deal with the dire consequences that patriarchy has on women, we would be doing ourselves a disservice if we did not also keep an eye on how they live this social organization that is given to them. Some fit into it and accommodate themselves without any problem, but others do not.

The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested a man this Saturday as the alleged perpetrator of the violent death of a woman in the town of Esplugues de Llobregat, in Baix Llobregat. The Catalan police force received the alert around 11 a.m. this morning, through a call to 112 informing that a man had injured a woman and fled the scene. As the ARA has been able to ascertain, the murder allegedly occurred in the middle of Joan Miró street with a bladed weapon. In fact, according to residents of the area, the man had previously brandished a large knife and showed signs of nervousness. When the Mossos d'Esquadra units and the emergency medical services (SEM) arrived, they could no longer do anything to save the woman's life, who had received several stab wounds.

The 60-year-old man arrested this morning for starting a fire last night in a building in Miranda de Ebro (Burgos) that killed his ex-partner, her mother, and a neighbor was convicted of kidnapping and torturing women, according to police and judicial sources who spoke to EFE. The deceased are a 78-year-old woman, a 58-year-old woman, and a 23-year-old woman. Four other people were injured, including an 11-year-old boy and a seven-year-old girl. Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska confirmed that this is another case of gender-based violence and stated that both the killer, who turned himself in to the police after the three murders, and his ex-partner, Dolores, 58, had been in the system (which protects victims of domestic violence) but for relationships with other people. New attempt by the European Parliament to include the concept of consent in the EU's directive on gender-based violence. The European Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties and Women's Rights has approved, by 75 votes in favor, 27 against, and three abstentions, a report advocating for a legal reform that, in practice, would largely extend the Spanish law of only yes means yes throughout the European Union.

A man murdered his 10-year-old son early this morning in the municipality of Arona, in southern Tenerife, and left his partner and the child's mother critically injured. According to the EFE news agency, the Civil Guard shot and killed the man after he threatened officers with a machete. The 26-year-old woman remains hospitalized on the Canary Island. Sources from the Civil Guard, cited by the same agency, explained that the crime occurred around 1:00 a.m. at a home in the town of Cabo Blanco. Neighbors alerted the Civil Guard to a disturbance at the residence. When officers arrived, they found the boy's body and the woman with injuries to her limbs. In April 2024, a family in San José de la Vega, Murcia, reported the disappearance of a 36-year-old woman. The man held the victim captive and assaulted her for months until she managed to escape and report the situation. The victim is a 38-year-old Moroccan woman who has injuries on various parts of her body as a result of the assaults she allegedly suffered over several months. The arrested man, the victim's partner, is a Spanish national accused of gender-based violence and unlawful detention. In addition to the victim's partner, the police also arrested three other men as alleged accomplices, as they were reportedly aware of the kidnapping and failed to report it.

In Russia, it is estimated that at least 1,200 women are murdered each year by their partners or ex-partners, but the figure could be much higher because the government conceals its statistics. The Case The Catalan police have confirmed that the woman's body was found yesterday, Thursday, inside a squat, and authorities are awaiting the results of the investigation to determine whether or not it was a case of gender-based violence.
