Barcelona has experienced a tense afternoon due to a clash between two opposing demonstrations. The Mossos d'Esquadra have dispersed with baton blows several anti-fascist demonstrators who wanted to overcome a police cordon separating them from another concentration of the neo-Nazi group Núcleo Nacional, in front of the Spanish government's delegation in Catalonia.

Three people have died this Saturday in a few minutes and in different parts of Catalonia while doing outdoor activities, as reported by the security forces of the Generalitat in a statement. It is an eighteen-year-old boy who drowned while bathing in the Llobregat river, in Berguedà; an elderly man who had done a scuba dive in Cadaqués, and a third person who died after falling down a mountain ravine in the port of Medacorba, in Pallars Sobirà.

The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a man and a woman as alleged perpetrators of the violent death of another man in Berguedà. The victim's lifeless body appeared on April 15 in the Baells reservoir and after a month and a half of investigation, the police have been able to solve the case. According to El Punt Avui and confirmed by ARA, the arrests were made this Thursday.

When a street shooting occurs, the Mossos d'Esquadra immediately consider whether it could be related to drug trafficking. And, in recent months, whether these drug traffickers could be from Eastern Europe. They do this after several almost identical murders have been attributed to these mafias, and now they are also investigating whether the constant revenge between Eastern clans is behind the latest crime, the one on Balmes street, there are also the constant revenges between Eastern clans.

Six people shot dead in three months. This is the balance of the latest firearm incidents in Catalonia that greatly worries the police. The first was registered at the end of March during a shooting in a music bar in Badalona and the latest took place this Tuesday in the upper part of Barcelona, coinciding with the visit of Pope Leo XIV. The second to last, however, was two days ago, this Sunday in the Zona Franca. On the same street, in fact, there was a new shooting execution fifteen days earlier.

It was ten minutes to ten in the morning at the intersection of Balmes street and Granada del Penedès street, in the upper part of Barcelona. The terraces were full and a National Police office for issuing ID cards and passports was already open. Suddenly, a shot was heard. There was a rush and witnesses explain that they hid inside the premises. A man dressed in a dark jumper, from which a Barça t-shirt protruded, and wearing shorts, lay on the ground bleeding. He had just been shot in the head. There was only one detonation. Another man, wearing a beige t-shirt, also shorts, with a bicycle helmet in one hand and a pistol in the other, fled down Granada del Penedès street in the direction of Via Augusta.

It was the afternoon of May 16 when a man was shot in the head on Carrer de la Mineria in Barcelona, in the Zona Franca. Despite attempts to revive him, the man died. Twenty-three days later, another man walking down the same street in the city was shot several times in the back. The story repeated itself: it was a Sunday afternoon, with many neighbors in the street, and despite resuscitation attempts, he ended up dying. These are two practically identical types of homicide, frequent among drug clans seeking revenge. Due to the proximity and similarities, when the Mossos investigators arrived at the crime scene this Sunday, they asked themselves a question: could the two crimes be related?

Rarely has Catalonia been so fortified as for the visit of Pope Leo XIV. Police sources speak of an unprecedented and extraordinary operation, which will mobilize more police officers than ever before (up to 7,000) and which bears the name Albus. The Mossos have chosen it because it means white in Latin and white is the color of the pontiff's usual attire, becoming his most recognizable visual symbol.

The Prosecutor's Office has asked the Martorell judge investigating the death of Mango's founder, Isak Andic, to order a reconstruction of his fall. And it is one thing to expose yourself “if you go out to block streets” and another is to have to endure the gratuitous violence of someone who feels impunity because they are uniformed.There are police officers who complain about the same thing: that the times when people saw a police officer and obeyed without a word are already history, that now people confront them and have violent attitudes, because it's not just that they no longer instill fear, but they have also lost authority. But then comes the vicious cycle: for them to be believed, the verbal and physical attitude of some officers is increasingly surly, and even more preemptively aggressive, by default, to begin by demanding respect, which only increases the distance between two worlds that barely touch or know each other anymore, such as that of citizens and that of the police, because people only see police officers passing by locked in cars and we assume they are behind the street surveillance cameras. And thus, another link between citizenship and public authorities is being severed.

One of the turning points in the investigation into the death of Isak Andic, founder of Mango, was when the Mossos d'Esquadra accessed the content of his mobile phone. There they found several conversations in derogatory terms with his son, Jonathan Andic, the person with whom he was on a route through the Collbató caves on the day he died. The judge in the case speaks of messages "of hatred, of resentment, of ideas of death". As the ARA reported a few months ago, these messages were part of a kind of therapy that the Andic's son was undergoing with a coach and which the Mossos used to focus even more on the firstborn. Now, the judge is asking to delve even deeper into the figure of this therapist.

Night of riots in Mataró. The Mossos d'Esquadra had already reinforced their uniformed presence in the Cerdanyola neighborhood of the capital of Maresme after an eviction this Tuesday ended with three minors arrested for throwing blunt objects, such as paving stones, at the police line. These actions against the police, however, were repeated at night, according to Mossos sources. A group of young people burned a dozen containers and threw stones and incendiary devices at the police. In total, the Mossos made five arrests, four of them minors.

The eviction of a family with four minors in the Cerdanyola neighborhood of Mataró has ended with three teenagers arrested and several charges by the Mossos d'Esquadra to execute the judicial eviction. The events took place early this morning on Gatassa avenue, where, according to the Mossos, about fifty people gathered to prevent police action and threw objects at the police line. The Mossos report throwing cobblestones and stones, for which five officers were slightly injured.

The girl, who was admitted to the hospital and is out of danger, would be part of one of the feuding families.

Normally, the exit from Collblanc metro station, in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, is a hustle and bustle of people. People entering and leaving the station, transiting along the parallel tracks, and shopping in the businesses surrounding Plaça de la Solidaritat. This Friday afternoon, however, there are more people than usual. A handful of curious onlookers are observing a machine in a semicircle. It is metallic, has two small wheels, and right above it, a Local Police officer places an electric scooter. The machine's wheels roll and make the scooter's wheels roll. The officer looks at a tablet to check the result and shortly after looks at the scooter driver with a troubled expression. It has been tampered with. The machine has concluded that it can reach 60 km/h. The City Council takes the scooter and the driver, a fine.

Jonathan Andic, under investigation for the death of his father, Mango owner Isak Andic, begins to defend himself. His lawyer, Cristóbal Martell, has filed an appeal with the Barcelona Court of Appeal to try to revoke the precautionary measures against his client, such as the one million euro bail he had to pay to avoid prison, the confiscation of his passport, or the prohibition from leaving the country. In his statement last week after being arrested by the Mossos d'Esquadra, Jonathan Andic limited himself to answering his lawyer's questions with monosyllables. Now that he has had access to the 1,400-page case file and has been able to learn what are the various indications surrounding him, Martell has attempted to begin refuting them in this appeal, to which ARA has had access.

"It is one of the largest police operations ever deployed in Catalonia". This is how the Minister of the Interior, Núria Parlon, described this Thursday the deployment of the Mossos d'Esquadra that will take place during the visit of Pope Leo XIV to Catalonia. Up to 5,600 agents of the Catalan police will be activated for this event. It is an almost unprecedented figure, as it means that 25% of the force's members will be active for the Pope's presence. Furthermore, this entire operation is joint with the National Police, the Civil Guard, the royal household, the Vatican Police, and the Guàrdia Urbana de Barcelona, which will have 500 agents available. The Minister of Justice explained that the visit is covered by an agreement between the Generalitat, the City Council, and the Archbishopric, which he has quantified at 1.6 million euros financed by the tourist tax and which will be audited later.

The pilot plan to place agents of the Mossos d'Esquadra in Catalan schools has not been well received. It has been rejected by educational unions, but also by the majority of the centers where it was planned to be implemented.The trial has also generated internal criticism within the Catalan police regarding the way it has been designed and communicated. Among the few centers that have agreed to be part of the pilot plan, some are located in El Prat de Llobregat. In fact, sources consulted by ARA admit that, when the plan began to be considered, certain centers in this municipality were used as an example to justify the trial, although the list of schools and institutes for the pilot plan was provided by the Department of Education.
