Villarejo is delighted to declare for the Leire case: "I will speak with great pleasure"

MadridEight days after beginning to testify in the Kitchen case trial, José Manuel Villarejo is speaking again. Last week he spent three hours answering the Prosecutor's questions and today he was supposed to continue where he left off because prosecutor César de Rivas still had questions on his mind. However, just as the session began, his lawyer, Antonio García Cabrera, announced that due to his state of health he would stop answering the public ministry and would only answer his defense's questions. As the retired commissioner said at first, he will not answer Luis Bárcenas' lawyer or the popular prosecutions represented by the PSOE and Podemos. Upon arrival, journalists asked Villarejo about the contacts he had with Leire Díez, given that in the investigation file on the so-called PSOE plumber, his name appears on more than one occasion. And he has shown himself open to testifying before the judge: "With great pleasure, when Pedraz asks me, I will answer all of that. Because I have to preserve the independence and the right of defense of my lawyer," he verbalized.

Likewise, he assured that the "supposed sewers" of the PSOE "have gone against" him: "They have gone to destroy me", he lamented. "One part of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office pursues the supposed sewers and another part of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office accepts the audios from this sewer and uses them to accuse me further", he complained in allusion to the recordings by Javier Pérez Dolset that were incorporated into the case. "There is a need for the left and the right to accuse me of anything. These supposed sewers already existed since 2018", he added. And he cited Jean-Jacques Rousseau: "«It is madness to try to stay sane when everyone has gone mad». That is to say, I agree with the supposed sewers to have me accused of more things and to have more cases opened against me? Please, let's be serious".
