BarcelonaThe Valencian socialists have been hitting a wall for some time when they demand the resignation of Carlos Mazón. Faced with the constant refusal of the head of the Consell, this Friday the PSPV goes on the attack and is already pointing to a possible motion of censure with an uncertain outcome (they would need the support of Vox, in addition to that of Compromís). What does it depend on? On Alberto Núñez Feijóo. "If Feijóo does not make a move in the next few hours, the PSPV will," said the leader of the party in the Valencian Community, Diana Morant. Consulted by the ARA, sources from the state PP assure that "there are no changes" in their position on Mazón, which until now was to support him and divert responsibilities to the executive of Pedro Sánchez.

In any case, the pressure on the Valencian president is such that even Vox is already considering facilitating the election of another president of the Generalitat. Sources from the state leadership of Vox explain to ARA that they consider both Mazón's resistance to resigning and Alberto Núñez Feijóo's inaction "incomprehensible". In this sense, they are open to opening a "negotiation" although they stress that ultimately the initiative must come from the PP, since they consider that the wear and tear of the Valencian Popular Party, and of the PP in general, is benefiting them electorally. A hypothetical new president in the Valencian Community should be a deputy in Les Corts, where the Popular Party now only has one strong name, which is that of the mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá, who has not shown any interest at the moment.

Vox will also have the upper hand when it comes to vetoing appearances before the DANA investigative commission in Les Corts. Both the PSPV and Compromís have requested this Friday the appearance of Maribel Vilaplana, who the PP vetoed in the Senate due to having an absolute majority, and of the owner of Ventorro and his employees, where the journalist had lunch with Mazón, apart from a good part of the Valencian government. Vox practically copies the list of those appearing from the PP, with Pedro Sánchez at the head, whom Compromís also mentions, as well as the delegate of the Spanish government, Pilar Bernabé, and several ministers. However, the appearance of the members of the Spanish government is voluntary.

Be that as it may, in Génova they maintain their support for Mazón: "He said that his political continuity was linked to the achievements of the reconstruction and nothing has changed," they affirm. In fact, they draw iron from the criminal horizon that Mazón may face and insist that Sánchez will also have to answer for not having reported on the flooding of the Rambla del Poio, something that was the responsibility of the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation. But the reality is that the PP's discomfort with Mazón is growing, and Feijóo avoided accompanying him at the information breakfast he offered on Monday in Madrid. This Friday, the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, also refused to give him explicit support. "I'm not in this," she said in response to questions from journalists.

Socialist offensive

In any case, the Valencian socialists are changing the position they had maintained until now regarding The new revelations that further haunt the head of the Council. And to date the PSPV had refused to put forward a motion of censure as Compromís demanded and advocated that the PP should dismiss Mazón. In fact, on November 18, Morant said that he "respected and understood" the motion of censure proposed by Compromís, but declined to support it, arguing that the "realistic solution" was for the PP to dismiss Mazón and appoint a "technical" Council for the reconstruction of the affected areas. For it to go ahead, the support of Vox would be necessary, because the two parties together account for 53 of the 99 deputies of Les Corts. "We do not rule out presenting a motion of censure," he repeated in response to the insistence of the media and after stressing that if it were up to his party, Mazón "would no longer be president of the Generalitat." Mazón has insisted again this Friday, however, that he does not intend to resign.

In any case, Morant has recalled that last week The PP and Vox have already formed an alliance for rejecting a non-law proposal from Compromís that asked the Valencian president to leave office for the management of a DANA that has resulted in 227 fatalities. "They are in the hands of a parliamentary majority that last week again supported it, a majority as indecent as Mazón," he said. For this reason, he has once again appealed to the leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, to throw him out.

"From the first moment we have appealed to Feijóo and we do so again, but if he does not make a move, the PSPV will do so," he warned after recalling that "there are precedents in this community of the PP dismissing a president," referring to Francisco Camps, because "Mazón's situation is increasingly unbearable. The leader of Compromís, Joan Baldoví, took up the gauntlet of the leader of the Valencian socialists and requested a meeting to address a possible motion of censure. "We must talk now. We understand that the situation has become so unsustainable that, for the dignity of all the people who have lost a family member, we must present a motion of censure," said Baldoví.
