The mayor of Tarragona, Rubén Viñuales, explained with emotion that he has Extremaduran roots and claimed the ties between Catalonia and Extremadura from an event in Mérida, accompanied by Salvador Illa. "Catalonia cannot be understood without Extremadura," said the socialist mayor, formerly of Ciutadans.
