The former squire of Sílvia Orriols who says Lamine is not Catalan and makes fun of the Patum
Gerard Juny has resigned from Aliança after the expulsion of the Figueres candidate
BarcelonaGerard Juny resigned this week as a militant of Aliança and head of communication in La Selva. "Aliança is too far left for me and too complexed," he stated, while admitting he would continue to vote for them because there was "nothing else." The young man from Girona made this decision after the leadership expelled the candidate in Figueres, Arnau Liesa, for maintaining a romantic relationship with a sixteen-year-old former student.
Just after the scandal broke, Juny tweeted publicly in support of the now former mayoral candidate. "It's a mistake to remove him," he said. Far from reconsidering his position, two days later he responded to journalist Laura Fa and defended the relationship, arguing that girls who are already sixteen can "have abortions, undergo hormone therapy, and change their sex without parental consent."
It is not the first outburst nor will it be the last from this activist who also marches for the entry into the party of former members of the PSC or SCC. He will continue to lead Nacionalistes als Carrers, an organization he launched in 2025 and which advocates for the Catalan state and "remigration". In fact, Juny never tires of repeating that people who were born here, but have foreign parents, are not Catalan. In this group he includes Barça players like Lamine Yamal or Alejandro Balde, whom he considers "citizens of Catalonia, but not Catalans".
Nor is it for him who assumes his Catalan identity naturally, even though his family comes from other countries, like Naim Smaili, who has become popular for covering popular Catalan songs.
A follower of Trump, Netanyahu, Bukele or the ADF, Juny had until now been one of the escorts of the party leader, Sílvia Orriols, always at the forefront. He accompanied her to court in May for the 10,000 euro fine from the Generalitat for statements against Muslim immigration.
He also formed part of the small group that supported her and chanted her name at the Patum de Berga, where Orriols was booed. Faced with protests against the party's top leader, Juny chose to ridicule the festival.
Although Aliança defends LGTBI rights and Orriols herself has hung the flag of this collective in Ripoll, the former militant considers it a "woke foolishness" and has denounced that doing so is for "pathetic and ignorant people".
He shares with Orriols his belligerence against the CUP, whose militants he calls "dirty" or "rats", and he has boasted that Spanishist squads that tear down esteladas have damaged the UAB mural.
