The discussions between grandfather Florenci and Jordi Pujol: thus the family has justified the inheritance in Andorra

They confirm that the origin of the money is the inheritance of Florenci Pujol, who did not trust the political activities of the former president

San Fernando de HenaresWith former president Jordi Pujol out of the picture and two marathon interrogation sessions with the eldest son, Jordi Pujol Ferrusola, and Josep Pujol Ferrusola; this Wednesday at the Audiencia Nacional it was the turn of the rest of the family. The doubt was whether they would answer like the firstborn did to the family's questions, but as soon as Oriol Pujol, the only one of the sons who dedicated himself to politics, began, he dispelled the doubts: he would only answer his lawyer, Franscesc Sánchez. He set the defense line that all the siblings have been following: the origin of the bequest is not corruption as the Prosecutor's Office maintains, but an inheritance that their grandfather left them because he did not trust the political activities that his son, who later became president of the Generalitat for 23 years, could undertake. So much so, that he affirmed, like the rest of the family, that Jordi Pujol i Soley never had an account in Andorra in his name. For Oriol Pujol, considering his grandfather's endemic distrust of his father's activities, it is not a "strange fact".

The most explicit has been Marta Pujol, the second of the seven siblings and who, like the firstborn, had a close relationship with Florenci Pujol. They were both young when Jordi Pujol i Soley was imprisoned during Franco's regime and, at that time, their grandfather —she explained— was very present in family life and forged an "special" relationship with Marta Ferrusola, the now deceased mother of the family and wife of the former president. She recounted, in this regard, that she learned directly from her grandfather that there was a bequest in Andorra, after Franco's death: "He decided to leave a legacy for our family," she said, given the possibility that her son might not be able to support them: "We lived scenes at the summer house in Premià de Mar... we lived vampirized confrontations between my father and my grandfather over how he used money. My grandfather was very worried about my father's obsession, Catalonia".
