September 11: Guide to the demonstration, offering, concerts, and events for Catalonia's National Day

We explain how the ANC's decentralized mobilization will work, what other events will take place, and the main bus disruptions.

BarcelonaThe celebration of Catalonia's National Day will kick off on September 10th with a new feature: the solemn flag-raising ceremony at the Parliament, presided over by the Speakers of the Parliament and the Generalitat, Josep Rull and Salvador Illa, and the Mayor of Barcelona, ​​Jaume Collboni. The flag will fly year-round next to the Palau del Parlament. In the afternoon, the ANC (Catalan National Assembly), Òmnium (Union of Catalonia), the Council of the Republic, the Intersindical (Union of Trade Unions), and the Ciemen (Ciemen) will promote the traditional Diada demonstration to denounce, this year, tax plunder, the minoritization of the Catalan language, and the denationalization of Catalonia.

The Diada demonstration

The motto of this 9/11 is More reasons than everto make it clear that independence is "the only future project for Catalonia." As last year, the mobilization will be decentralized and will be held in three cities: Barcelona, ​​​​Girona, ​​and Tortosa, where the grievances of remaining part of Spain will be denounced.

In the Catalan capital, the march will begin at Pla de Palau at 5:14 p.m. and will travel along Paseo Colón and Paseo de Isabel II, concluding at the end of La Rambla, where the stage will be used for the speeches.

In Girona, the rally will begin at Plaça Catalunya and continue to Plaça del Hospital, Gran Via de Jaime I, Avenida Ramon Folch, and Ronda del Reloj, before ending at the Copa, where the stage will be located.

In the capital of Baix Ebre, the demonstration will depart from Plaça Gerard Vergés, pass through Calle Montcada and Avenida Cristòfol Colom, and end at the intersection of Avenida Catalunya and Paseo del Ebro, where the organizers will deliver their speeches.

Impacts on mobility this September 11

Only in the morning

From 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Several bus lines may be affected on the morning of September 11th due to the floral tributes at the Rafael Casanova monument. According to the TMB (Mexico City Ministry), lines D50, H16, V15, V17, 19, 47, and the Red Route tourist bus route may be detoured.

Afternoon only

From 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The route of the demonstration organized by the organizations will also cause disruption in the afternoon. All buses leaving or stopping at Pla de Palau, Paseo Colón, and Paseo de Isabel II will be altered. For this reason, TMB recommends using the metro, as there will be no traffic restrictions. However, it does anticipate some disruption related to passenger traffic.

The 2025 Diada is accompanied by a rich cultural agenda open to the public. Throughout the country, museums, heritage sites, concerts, and conferences place culture at the center of the commemoration, with free activities that combine historical memory and creativity.

Barcelona
