ValenciaThe government delegate in the Valencian Country, Pilar Bernabé, of the PSPV-PSOE, has formalized her candidacy to run for mayor of Valencia in the May 2027 elections, in which she will compete against the current mayor, M. José Català, of the Popular Party; Mónica Oltra, of Compromís, and the candidate presented by Vox, which has not yet been decided, but everything points to Vicente Barrera, a former bullfighter and former Minister of Culture, as well as former vice president.
"I assure you that there is nothing that excites me more than being mayor of Valencia and being able to serve the citizens." This is how Bernabé began her introduction as a candidate in a video she uploaded to social media. The socialist assures that this is her "life and political project" and highlights that the center of her campaign and her policy will be "the city and the people who live in this city."
Under the slogan "It will be Valencia, it will be Pilar," she highlights that the Valencian capital is a "creative, inclusive city that undertakes, grows, respects, and considers our language, our culture, our festivals, and our traditions." "In Valencia, I have grown up, I have worked, and I have lived. This is my city and this is my life and political project. The place where I have chosen to be," affirms the government delegate.
Reaction of the PSPV-PSOE
Diana Morant, Minister of Science and Secretary General of the PSPV-PSOE, has highlighted Bernabé's management of the Valencia DANA and her experience in municipal politics and the government of Spain. Morant said that "with the DANA she proved to be the mayor of the entire province of Valencia, a woman always with her boots on," as well as "a woman who knows all of Spain." Furthermore, she defended: "People need to know us to vote for us, and Pilar is known for the good."
On the other hand, in the cities of Alicante and Castellón, Trini Amorós and Rafa Simó will be presented respectively. Another notable candidacy is that of Héctor Díez in Elche.
