MadridKing Felipe VI has admitted in an informal conversation with the Mexican government's ambassador in Madrid, Quirino Ordaz, that during the conquest of America, Spain committed "many abuses" and that there have also been "moral controversies," despite the "desire for protection" of the Catholic Monarchs. This is seen in a video that the Royal Household itself has posted on its Instagram and X accounts, where it values knowledge of history.

"We must learn lessons. There have been moral controversies about how power is exercised from day one. The Catholic Monarchs, with their guidelines, had a desire for protection that reality later makes it not be fulfilled as intended, and there are many abuses," he says in the video after visiting the exhibition "Half the World. Women in Indigenous Mexico," which is on display at the National Archaeological Museum until March 22.
