Elisa Mouliaá changes her mind again and will accuse Íñigo Errejón of sexual abuse
The actress is asking for a three-year prison sentence for the former Sumar deputy and compensation of 30,000 euros.
MadridFive days after surprisingly announcing that withdrew the accusation of sexual abuse Actress Elisa Mouliaá, who had filed a complaint against Íñigo Errejón, has withdrawn her initial statement and decided to remain in the criminal case. Sources from her defense team confirmed to ARA that she will continue as a private prosecutor in the proceedings and attributed her initial decision to an "emotional breakdown." In the document she submitted to the courts last Wednesday, she stated that she was withdrawing the accusation "totally, freely, and irrevocably," but it lacked her lawyer's signature, an error the judge had already pointed out needed to be corrected. Now, no changes will be necessary because Mouliaá will remain a party to the case. He is asking for three years in prison.for the former Sumar deputy and compensation of 30,000 euros.
Last week, Mouliaá expressed that she had experienced a "feeling of exposure and personal strain" during the investigation and lamented that she had been left "alone"—without any other victim coming forward—after speaking out when he left politics following anonymous accusations. This Tuesday morning, Errejón must return to the Plaza de Castilla courthouse to be notified of the order sending him to trial.
In recent hours, the actress has protested the Prosecutor's Office's latest brief requesting Íñigo Errejón's acquittal. "It's quite cruel," she complained in a video posted on social media, in which she also criticized the prosecution for now "defending" the former Sumar deputy. The brief, which ARA has obtained, argues that the events "do not constitute a crime." It alleges that Mouliaá "did not object" to the first kiss Errejón gave her in the elevator, as part of the "flirting they were engaged in," and that when they were both at Errejón's house, he stopped "instantly" when she told him she didn't want to continue. However, this is not new. A month ago, the Prosecutor's Office declined to prosecute him, considering the evidence used by the judge to bring Errejón to trial "insufficient" to formulate an accusation and requested the case be dismissed. "It has not been proven that the accused was aware, based on the previous events and the way the complainant acted, that the relationship was not desired," he argued.
These developments come precisely on the same day that the Madrid Provincial Court was scheduled to begin deliberations on the appeal filed by Íñigo Errejón to try to avoid trial. His lawyer, Eva Gimbernat, argued that the proceedings carried out during the investigation "rule out the existence of even the slightest indication of criminal activity" and "corroborate the fabricated account of the complainant." Now, the Madrid Provincial Court is asking Judge Adolfo Carretero whether the document "has actually been filed" with the court and whether any ruling has been issued regarding it. Following the actress's self-amendment, the deliberations can continue. This appeal is Errejón's last remaining option to avoid being tried.
