The Spanish government promises 309 million to Ceuta: "It represents 16% of the autonomous city's GDP"

It is what now occupies, according to Moncloa, a good part of the Spanish executive's task and that is why the press conference of the council of ministers this Tuesday has focused on economic and social measures to respond to the migrant crisis. The vice president and head of Economy, Carlos Cuerpo, has promised to mobilize up to 309 million euros to be disbursed in four months to the autonomous city. Aid that will be directed, he said, to essential services, security, reception, and support for businesses.

"It represents 16% of Ceuta's GDP," highlighted Cuerpo, who assured that the mobilization of resources will be "agile." This money will be distributed as follows: 21 million for essential services; 90 million for defense and security; 118 million for the reception of minors, and 80 million to support businesses and self-employed workers. In addition, he also announced about 12 million in bonuses on corporate tax and also in deductions for self-employed workers. A measure that will be "structural" and will extend in parallel to Melilla.

"We are aware of the urgency of action to restore the confidence of Ceuta's citizens. We hope that this decree-law that we approve today will serve as proof that we will put all our efforts into it," reaffirmed the head of Economy, also accompanied by the spokesperson, Elma Saiz, and the Minister of Territorial Policy and leader of the unified command for Ceuta, Ángel Víctor Torres. Three ministers who have visited Ceuta in recent days and who, in the case of Saiz and Torres, will return after the press conference.
