Aznar blames the PSOE for the rise of Aliança: "It is the result of normalization in Catalonia"

It is known that, in his view, the so-called policy of "institutional, political, and social normalization in Catalonia" launched by the PSOE from the Spanish government has posed a "risk" to "the continuity of Spain as a nation" and an "attack" against the Spanish Constitution. This Wednesday, at the inauguration of this year's FAES Campus, the former president of the Spanish executive added one more consequence in the Catalan context.

"In Catalonia, normalization and reunion are called Aliança Catalana today, and the result will very soon translate into an autonomous Parliament occupied by the most xenophobic version of the independence movement," he declared. Thus, according to Aznar, the rise of Sílvia Orriols' party is explained by the decisions Pedro Sánchez has made in recent years regarding the independence movement. The current president of the FAES Foundation has thus echoed the polls that predict growth for Aliança Catalana, which could even place the party led by the mayor of Ripoll as the second force in Parliament.

Aznar has used this possibility to lash out against the "political corruption" of the socialist leader, materialized with "the pardons, the amnesty, and the penitentiary laxity with terrorists," also in reference to the ETA prisoners. "Thanks to them, conflicts are normalized," he warned. The former Spanish president, moreover, has called for vigilance during the final months of the legislature because "terminal Sanchismo is uniquely dangerous." The former Spanish president has once again argued that the right's goal of ousting Sánchez from Moncloa is imperative to save Spain. "Spain as a historical nation is at stake in the face of the left's plurinational creation and the essentialism of a certain right," he argued.

"Sovereignty is neither fractioned nor diluted. Here there is no federation, confederation, nor nation of nations, nor plurinationality, nor a puzzle, nor a Russian doll," he insisted. Aznar stated that only the PP can carry out this task and called to "concentrate the vote" on Alberto Núñez Feijóo's project. "It will be the shortest path for a strong government to do the opposite of Sanchismo," he remarked. According to the former Spanish president, the objective of the next Spanish government will be to "cancel the eight years of historical regression" that Sánchez has meant, and he claimed once again that an alternative that is "truly national" and "integrating" is needed. "Only the PP can do it with solvency," he said, to the detriment of Vox.
