Arran wants to expel Aliança Catalana from the Fossar for the Diada
The objective is to prevent the Islamophobic party from being able to hold an event there with normality as last year
BarcelonaHundreds of militants and sympathizers of Aliança Catalana filled the Fossar de les Moreres on the eve of the Diada to lay a floral tribute to the fallen of 1714. This is the image that Arran wants to prevent from happening again. Last year, about forty Arran members could not access the emblematic space because the Mossos d'Esquadra prevented them from doing so. The Catalan police sought to prevent the incidents of the previous year from recurring, and the youth of the CUP had to limit themselves to displaying a banner on the passeig del Born that read "In the Fossar de les Moreres we bury the traitors, we overthrow the extreme right", while the event proceeded with complete normality.
With four months still to go until the celebration of September Eleventh, Arran has called for an anti-fascist demonstration, which also has the support of other pro-independence left-wing organizations such as the CUP or Endavant. "In the last two years, Aliança Catalana has taken advantage of September 10th to occupy the Fossar de les Moreres and hold an act of racist reaffirmation there. This year we will not allow them to appropriate the Fossar, nor independence, nor the streets!", warns the organization in a statement.
a manual that encourages boycotting with direct action the stalls of Vox, but especially Aliança CatalanaIn its crusade against the far-right, Arran published a month ago a manual in which it encourages direct action to boycott the stalls that Vox, but especially Aliança Catalana, organizes every weekend in different cities and towns with an eye on the upcoming municipal elections. The booklet, titled Catalan Countries, everyone's land, contains practical examples to prevent these two far-right parties from carrying out their events normally, such as confiscating their material, throwing eggs or paint, setting up loudspeakers with very loud music, or sounding an alarm to prevent them from speaking or giving speeches.
All this as three members of Arran are awaiting trial for attacking an Aliança Catalana stand in the Les Corts neighborhood of Barcelona in January of last year. This happened after a militant of the far-right party fell to the ground due to a push from a member of the independentist left and was evacuated to the Hospital Sagrat Cor with a severe head injury.
