The United States expels Milo Yiannopoulos, the far-right activist who advocates for mass deportations

BarcelonaFar-right British activist Milo Yiannopoulos has been deported to the United Kingdom, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Yiannopoulos was arrested last Thursday by several agents of ICE to the Louisiana airport. According to CNN, the reason for deportation is having stayed in the United States longer than permitted on his visa. A judge issued the final expulsion order at the end of July after Yiannopoulos failed to appear at the hearing. The DHS has explained through a statement on X that the influencer legally entered the country in May 2019, but remained residing there once his authorization expired.

Yiannopoulos had for years been a supporter of Donald Trump's immigration policies and insisted on the implementation of the mass deportations that the American president had promised. "We have to deport millions and millions of people. It is much more important than debts measured in imaginary money," said the far-right activist on X, who had even called for ICE controls to be installed in supermarkets. Despite being a Trump supporter, the ultra agitator had accused the president "of being influenced by Israel" and had also denounced his connection with the Epstein case.

Born in the United Kingdom and of Greek origin, Milo Yiannopoulos arrived in the United States as a conservative agitator who wrote for far-right websites such as Breitbart News. The activist gained fame in the 2016 elections, in which he defended Trump against Hillary Clinton, through messages of hate and racism: equating feminism with cancer, stating that the US has a "problem with Muslims," and creating a scholarship exclusively for young white people. Yiannopoulos wrote columns and speeches with titles such as "Ten Things Milo Hates About Islam" and "Sorry, Girls, But The World's Smartest People Are All Men."

Recently, the activist was on a tour of universities he considered "traditionally left-wing" promoting messages of hate among youth, in which he claimed that rape culture on university campuses did not exist, and compared social justice to a disease. Some of the talks were met with massive protests by students, such as at the University of California, where the activist was arrested after demonstrations escalated into violence.

Following the deportation, Laura Loomer, a far-right influencer and Trump supporter, has stated that she was the first person to inform ICE and the FBI that Yiannopoulos was residing illegally in the country. According to CNN, there is no indication that Loomer has anything to do with the activist's detention, which comes at a time of increased ICE raids at US airports.
