The daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes renounces her father's surname
Suri Noelle, 20 years old, is the actor's only biological daughter, who also has two adopted sons with Nicole Kidman
BarcelonaThe daughter of actors Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes has renounced her father's surname, according to the magazinePeopleand Page Six. The 20-year-old has adopted her mother's first surname, Noelle, as she already did in 2024 at her high school graduation. Suri Noelle is the only biological daughter of Tom Cruise, who also has two adopted children from his marriage to actress Nicole Kidman, Isabella and Connor.
Cruise and Holmes married in 2006 and divorced six years later. Following the separation, Cruise lost custody of little Suri. From that moment on, the star of the series "Dawson’s Creek raised her daughter in New York. Now, Suri is studying at Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania and maintains a close relationship with her mother. By renouncing her surname, Suri Noelle seems to be definitively breaking ties with her father, with whom she no longer had contact. In fact, Cruise did not attend his daughter's graduation, who has no social media and has never granted an interview.
Separated by Scientology
The protagonist of Top Gun (1986) is known for his connection to Scientology, a religious sect created in 1954 by author L. Ron Hubbard. According to Hello magazine, this fact could be the main reason for Cruise's estrangement from his daughter, as the Church of Scientology requires its members to cut contact with those members who have “disconnected” from the cult.
The actor does maintain contact with his two adopted children, who are practitioners of Scientology. Cruise and Kidman adopted Bella (32 years old) in 1992, and Connor (30 years old) in 1995. It was one of the most famous marriages of the 90s. Following their divorce in 2001, the couple's children decided to go live with their father and have a more distant relationship with the actress.
The case of Suri Noelle is not the only one in Hollywood where children renounce their father's surname. Four of the six children that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had have legally renounced their father's surname. The first to make the change was Shiloh, 20 years old, followed by Zahara, 21, and Maddox, 24, all in the legal process of changing their names. A few days ago, Vivienne also legally requested to remove her surname Pitt.
