BarcelonaThe singer Rosa López, former contestant of Operación Triunfo, has announced that she will not participate in some of the 25th anniversary events of the contest, which is being celebrated this 2026. In a video posted on social media, the winner of the first edition criticized that former contestants are relied upon to fuel the show's nostalgia but that they do not receive enough support for their musical careers during the rest of the year.

"I have not received enough support"

López has questioned the practice of asking former contestants to participate in commemorative events without pay, as this could cause them to lose other job opportunities. "I don't think it's right that we have to be there every year whether we like it or not," said the Andalusian singer. The artist also took the opportunity to defend her right to decide which celebrations she participates in and assured that the decision does not stem from any grudge.

Rosa López made these reflections public in the context of the events for the 25th anniversary of Operación Triunfo, the program that made her known. The first edition premiered in 2001 and ended in February 2002, when López was proclaimed the winner.
